what

E4 Networking includes all the activities related to the networking of COWS project, in view of adding European value and widening its scope and sustainability after the EC funded period.

The connections with other relevant projects communities (LIFE, FP7, etc.) will also contribute to involve and establish durable links with the Scientific research and technology development community and reinforce COWS concept amid relevant communities. The main objectives of the action are to:

• Establish regular collaboration with existing thematic networks
• Participate to initiative organised by the EC to foster collaboration among projects.

The link with communities working on waste and public access to environmental information is of fundamental relevance. Of course all this in addition to the communities dealing with waste, waste management, waste water, and environmental issues.

The project will seek to establish associations and active cooperation with national, European (eg WssTP - Water supply and sanitation Technology Platform ) and international networks (IWA - world and Italian section; ISWA - the Project will be presented to the 2012 ISWA congress that will be held in Florence, IT. ISWA has amongst its members an enormous amount of expertise and knowledge on different aspects of waste management); with national and international fora or main events and exhibitions (eg annual RWM - Recycling and Waste Management Exhibition, UK, etc.

This action belongs to the E - Project management and monitoring of project progress set of actions.

• Participation and/or contribution to networks, events and information platforms organised by EC;
• Establishing contacts and regular information exchange with other projects dealing with the same or similar issues;
• Sign into existing networks in the same field of action
• Exchange of results, information and best practices
• Participation to event organized by other relevant project communities

• Web based collaboration

• Screening of existing initiatives
• Maintaining of a registry and calendar of subscribed initiatives

• Regular delivery of information

Networking activities will take place in the project implementation area, i.e. Viareggio, Lucca, IT; participation to/organisation of networking activity in other European countries is also envisaged. The cost incurred by this activity (including 2 or 3 European trips for SEAMB and SEARIS the two partners more involved in such activities) is budgeted.

Constraints:

• Initiatives to which the COWS Partnership contributes must focus on the pertinent themes
• Only original contribution of the project will be delivered
• References, sources, directories etc. will be made available through the project web site
• Networks to which the partnership participates must be focussed on themes next to COWS ones

Assumptions:

• Existing relevant initiatives are open for COWS participation.
• Networks are willing to include new partners.

Beneficiary responsible for implementation^discuss

The beneficiary responsible for E4-Netrworking activities is SEAMB P1 SEARIS will participate in the action.

Expected results (quantitative information when possible) (max. 2.000 characters)^discuss

The main results are:

• COWS included in the top 3 attaining initiatives/networks
• COWS contribution are regularly published and well ranked
• permanent collaboration has been established with 3 networks at European dimension working on relevant issues, including research networks.

The above mentioned results account for :

Indicators of progress (max. 2.000 characters)^discuss

The main indicators are (1) Level of networking and (2) Fulfilment. The measuring will be carried out by SEAAMB: at reporting time and at activity end.

For the networking the threshold will be at least 3 permanent collaborations established.

For the completion report the threshold is ON/OFF.

The mean of verification is document review.
